“A Poem for My Mom” by Teyuna T. Darris

“A Poem for My Mom”
I’m thankful to the God
Who gave me to my mom.
And, touched her heart to give me hugs,
And, kiss my forehead and my thumbs.

Each day, she greets me with a smile,
And speaks kind words deep from her heart and mind.
Then, she sums up all her desire for me:
She says, “You have a great day, and you come back to me”.
My mom, she listens with her heart from deep inside.
Then, shares her golden wisdoms to store inside my mind.

I’m thankful
I’m so thankful
For the one who’s called “My mom”.
And, for everything she is, and does
And gives to me— and her love.
My mother is Diana Darris.❤️

“To My Dear and Loving Husband” by Anne Bradstreet (1612 – 1672)

If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way repay;
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let’s so persever,
That when we live no more we may live ever.
